[What I Did] Wall Show

I've been a busy bee since Husband left last week. Even more so now that I'm in tip top health.

I tackled the walls this past week. We have been here 2 months, our stuff has been here 1 month, but I'm just now hanging up photos, etc.

Our living room gallery wall:
I love collages, if you can't tell.
That's a picture collage of Bear when he was just a widdle thing. The home quote I got from here. The number print I made myself.
I love these. I think it looks cool together. The pictures in the top frame, along with the upper right and middle right photos are from Bear's nine month photos, the LOVE print I found floating around on Pinterest. The middle left photo is from 2009. The other three are from Taylor's graduation at Parris Island. :]
Our "Proclamation to the World" we got from the Bishop who married us (and then became our Bishop two months later when we moved), and the Families Are Forever print I found here.

I've still got some more photos to hang up to complete this gallery wall. I'm excited how well it's turned out so far, though. :]

What do you think?

[Giveaway Spectacular!] Day 7

I'm late again. I don't think anyone noticed, tho, so I have no idea why I decided to draw attention to it...

I made my very first thing via computer today.
I like it. I don't know why, but even though I sucked at math, I love numbers. And this, I think this just screams awesome.

The winner of today's giveaway will win ONE custom 8x10 number art print. Yep.

Wanna win? Here's how *leave a comment for each thing you do*:
  • [MANDATORY] Tell me what colors you would get on your print. (1 entry)
  • Facebook, Tweet or blog about this. (1 entry each)
  • Tell me what dates you would get on your print. (1 entry)
This giveaway will close on June 27, 2011, at 4 P.M. Pacific time.

That's all!

Mustache Mustache Mustache

(Please tell me someone has seen that episode of Phil of the Future…)

So, on March 22nd, Nichelle and Elise are hosting the first ever National Get Some Cupcake Crumbs In Yo Mustache Day.

Um, yeah. It’s going to be epic.

It’s only one month and one week away (or so) away, so I’m giving this entire post over to the awesomeness of mustaches and cupcakes.

And so it goes…

Vision Realized

So, I mentioned that I was going to paint a canvas for our future living room/hallway/foyer.

I went from this:

b[2]

to this:

181625_1814554361005_1154444287_32125311_1967335_n

and finally to this:

172439_1814718685113_1154444287_32125430_5146744_o

It is still blue, but I took the picture with my cell phone, so I apologize for the lack of light.

I love it.

I think I may make some more of these and sell them.

Would anyone buy them, you think?

Ciao for now!

Apologies, Questions, Confusion & A Project Sneak Peek

First off, I would just like to apologize for that little fit I threw yesterday. I was having a really bad day. I know things like this take time to become cool, but I’m one of those people who like instant gratification.

Thank you all for talking me down from a cliff. It really means SO MUCH. I actually got watery eyes from reading your comments. I know, I’m a sap.

Now.

I have a question for the Marine wives who read this:

Exactly what can I expect from the housing on any base? Like…roughly how big and please please please say I can paint the walls. I know we aren’t going to get into a huge place (the husband is only a PFC), but I would just like to know if I’m gonna have room to stash a tall bookshelf in the “master” bedroom.

Next.

I made an impulse buy last night.

shabbyapple-ingrid-full

Yup. That gorgeous dress will soon be mine all mine. I CAN’T wait. I definitely think it will be worth all the dough. Doe? D’oh? Cash.

My only problem is how much it cost. I’m thinking I may send it back, and then re-order it after we get our tax return.

But I would love to wear it for my Mom’s wedding in a month.

I dunno what to do. :[

Finally.

I started painting the desk that I hinted at in this post.

Here is the progress so far:

180688_1804458108605_1154444287_32105339_4677009_n

I am so excited. It’s gonna look so super pretty when it’s done.

That’s just the hutch that goes on top of the actual desk. I have been using it as a bookshelf for the last 2 years, but when we finally get into on-base housing (two more months!), I am going to use it to store all my craft stuff in.

Painting it this color is definitely going to brighten it up, especially when I’m glued to my chair, painting my little heart out.

My First Attempt….

So. I have just finished my first attempt at subway art…

blank

It’s a very personal piece, as it has some words and phrases very integral to my relationship with my husband.

I’m gonna print it out on some really good paper and find a nice easel.

What do you think?

I Think I Need To Make Up My Mind…

Yup. I have issues. I can’t decide on anything. I have officially changed things around…again.

The dresser isn’t done. It was pointed out to me that once Matheson is old enough to start climbing things, he would try and climb his drawers.

So, after much debate (with myself), I decided to go from this type of drawer pull:

168638_1781089684409_1154444287_32061957_69200_n

to this:

il_570xN.172737147

I have a custom listing from PinkSugarCouture for ten of these hand-painted beauties. I’m so excited to get them. They are going to look amazing on the dresser, and in his room.

Another thing that I changed around was my wall decor for my master bedroom.

I was going to have this:

bed

But after working for hours on one of the canvases and hardly getting anywhere, I have switched it up a bit:

bed

Again, just a little bit more centered.

As for the other canvas, it’s going to be painted a lovely creamy-beige type color, and I’m going to put a nice, matching letter ‘B’ on it for the living room/hallway/dining room type thing that I have no idea how it looks. :]

Like so:

b

I’m also going to be painting my vintage desk/hutch, but that’s for another post.

Ciao for now!

P.S.: Don’t forget to check out my guest post over on Vintage Wanna Bee!

P.P.S: Matheson’s first tooth broke through today. :]

Project Sneak Peeks

In addition to the packing and organizing that I’m doing, I also have three (soon to be four) projects I’m working on.

The first one is repainting my old dresser. I have had this dresser for three years, but it was also my father’s dresser. This particular piece of furniture is very dear to me. It has been my canvas (I attacked it with a blue paint pen when I was three) and my writing tablet (I learned to write the letter ‘q’ on the side). I’m so excited to be passing it down to my Little Bear.

168638_1781089684409_1154444287_32061957_69200_n

(Please ignore the poor lighting and fuzziness. It’s a cell phone pic.)

My second project is one that I am actually pretty excited for. I have not seen anything like this, so I’m thinking (pretending) that I came up with the idea myself. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a while to complete. But here is a hint:

Keys. :]

The third one involves Marine Corps digi Marpat. But, again, it’s going to take a while to finish.

168612_1780929360401_1154444287_32061782_1454649_n

Cami fabric is my new favorite. Ha.

“Some Reasons Why I Love You” Book

So, since I’m not going to be with Taylor for Valentine’s Day, I’m giving him his present tomorrow when I see him.

I forgot to take step-by-step pictures while I was making it, but it’s pretty basic.

What you will need:

  • A deck of cards
  • Mod Podge
  • Clear coat spray (to finish it off)
  • Scrapbook paper (or any decorative paper)
  • Stickers, pictures, letters, etc..
  • Ribbons (I used three different colors)
  • Hole punch
  • A list of reasons why you love someone.

1: Measure your card, then cut out papers to fit.

2: Mod Podge your papers onto the faces of the cards. You can do the backs, too, if you want.

3 If you are using punch out letters/words, then put a thin layer of Mod Podge down on the paper, then put your punch outs down how you want.

4: Once you are done making your cute little cards, punch out two holes in each card to string your ribbon through. My holes were not completely even, so the book pages are not level, but I like it like that.

5: Spray with clear coat, let dry.

6: String ribbon through; tie closed.

Now you have a cute, personal gift for your special someone.

Enjoy!

Just Some Art I Found

So I was going through all of my old photo albums on Facebook, and I found one of some of my art.

So I thought I would share…

“Zephyr” 2006

“Nichols and Wood” 2009

These are the ones that I’m proud of. Just basic pencil sketches, nothing more, nothing less.

If you wanna see more, just click here.
