[What I Did] Distracted

I woke up this morning with a plan. A list of things I was going to do today, because they need to be done.
  1. Drop off my job application.
  2. Grab some Starbucks with that extra shot of espresso to avoid my mid-day sluggishness.
  3. Go on base and check out the gym.
  4. Clean out the fridge.
  5. Do the dishes.
  6. Tackle my mountains of laundry (both clean and dirty).
  7. Sweep and mop.
  8. Clean my room.
  9. Work on that necklace, that painting, that chalkboard, that pillow, those granny squares...
Wanna know how much I got done?
  1. Drop off my job application.
  2. Grab some Starbucks with that extra shot of espresso to avoid my mid-day sluggishness.
Yup. I fail hardcore. But, I have a very good excuse:
"What game should I play, Darlin?"
Yeah. This handsome Devil Dog got to come home for 3 whole hours to shower and do some laundry. Definitely the best three hours I've had in almost a month. The few days he had here (July 1-July 9) were riddled with stress and irritation (both on my part). But today...Today was just what I needed.

The stomachache I've had for three days went away as soon as I saw him. I got to be held. We kissed. Everything I've needed, I got it. Just having him near me relaxes me, and trust me, I've needed to relax these last few weeks...
My guys. <3
I even snapped a few pictures. Which makes me happy. I love pictures of my guys.

I think this was a legitimate excuse for not doing my list, don't you?
Needs sleep.
Even though he did get his smallpox in my hair. :/

I took him back, came home...then turned around and went back on base to find him. He forgot his laundry. Silly Husband. So after a "Duh" and a smile and about a zillion air kisses, we sadly parted ways for another two weeks.
Marine Bear playing with his ducky squeaker.
Husband left one of his boonie covers here for Bear to love on and play with while he's in the field. Bear does enjoy playing with his Daddy's hats. :]

Sigh...Here's to completing my list tomorrow!

GLB02 In My Dining Room

As soon as I get a whole little can of paint, this is gonna be finished.

I might get some vinyl words or swirlies or something to put up there…not sure yet. I’m excited, though. :]

A Fashion Dilemma, Some Stalling and A Love Letter

Okay, so I recently scoured the clearance racks at Old Navy and found this gorgeous dress:

dress

My only problem is that I am not sure what to wear with it. I do know that I will wear it over my long sleeve black Shade shirt, but I don’t want to do that every time. Ya know? I like to switch things up a bit. So, I was thinking…maybe a cardigan? And what hair accessories? I don’t want anything too overpowering, if that makes sense.

Help?

Sigh. I have 5 1/2 days till I go to California, and I have not done a single thing. I am starting to freak out. I mean, I have done stuff. It just doesn’t FEEL like I’ve done stuff.

And I know I should get a move on, but I just don’t want to. Packing stuff up is boring.

I. Hate. Moving. *bangs head on wall*

Guess what? (Should that be a question mark? Or a period? It has always confused me.)

On this day, two years ago, I was set up on a blind “date.”

On this day, two years ago, I was introduced to the absolute love of my life.

On this day, two years ago, we shared our first kiss (Yes, on the day we met. Scandalous, huh?).

On this day, two years ago, I found my soul mate. I became complete.

He has been through so much with me, for me and because of me, yet he has not faltered in loving me.

I love him more and more each and every day that I know him. I will always be there for him, no matter how hard life gets, or how unfair the universe is to us.

Come what may, Taylor.

Apple juice. :]

Let The Countdown Commence!

Okay.

I am starting up my to-do list again. Cuz, well…I need to.

I have the next 9 1/2 days to do the following:

  • Finish up all my sewing projects
  • Paint, stencil, and distress my desk
  • Finish making my Mom’s bouquet; mail it out
  • Get my hair cut
  • Pack a bag big enough to last for 12 days
  • Sort through Matheson’s clothes; box up what is too small
  • Pack up as much stuff as possible

Why only 9 1/2 days, you ask?

Well….

I’m going to Cali!

My mom is getting married, and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to see my family for the first time in FOREVER.

Also, my mom only lives an hour and a half away from my husband and also my possible future home: Twentynine Palms.

Yup. I get to see my Marine. *insert girly scream here*

I am beyond excited.

I’m gonna wear my Shabby Apple dress, and my love is going to wear his Blues. I’m almost scared we will look better than the happy couple (well, I won’t; Taylor might).

Unfortunately, by being in California, I’m gonna miss some awesomeness hosted by Miss Bee and Elise happening in SLC on the 10th:

(These girls have been busy planning neat-o parties, huh?)

Not that I would have been able to go anyway, what with living here in South Carolina. Sigh…I hate being away from the center of the bloggy universe. :[

What are y’all excited for?

Ciao for now!

Something Old, Something New…

Here comes the bride…

Some other cheesy wedding sayings…

I am officially commissioned to make a wedding bouquet and matching hair piece.

Sure, it’s for my mom…

But still!

New adventures!

She wants something like this:
il_570xN.210652326
This is the Ella bouquet from La Plume Ethere. I would just buy this for her, but…I wanna try my hand at feathers, plus I’m going to add some satin flowers and a few more pearls.

I’m also going to make a matching fascinator.

I can’t wait to start!

Ciao for now!

I Think I Need To Make Up My Mind…

Yup. I have issues. I can’t decide on anything. I have officially changed things around…again.

The dresser isn’t done. It was pointed out to me that once Matheson is old enough to start climbing things, he would try and climb his drawers.

So, after much debate (with myself), I decided to go from this type of drawer pull:

168638_1781089684409_1154444287_32061957_69200_n

to this:

il_570xN.172737147

I have a custom listing from PinkSugarCouture for ten of these hand-painted beauties. I’m so excited to get them. They are going to look amazing on the dresser, and in his room.

Another thing that I changed around was my wall decor for my master bedroom.

I was going to have this:

bed

But after working for hours on one of the canvases and hardly getting anywhere, I have switched it up a bit:

bed

Again, just a little bit more centered.

As for the other canvas, it’s going to be painted a lovely creamy-beige type color, and I’m going to put a nice, matching letter ‘B’ on it for the living room/hallway/dining room type thing that I have no idea how it looks. :]

Like so:

b

I’m also going to be painting my vintage desk/hutch, but that’s for another post.

Ciao for now!

P.S.: Don’t forget to check out my guest post over on Vintage Wanna Bee!

P.P.S: Matheson’s first tooth broke through today. :]

Frustrations, Ideas and Creativity

Matheson is teething. He can’t sleep. His gums hurt. He is grumpy. He had a fever this morning (that went away pretty quickly after he woke up, thank goodness). He doesn’t like the teething toys we got for him, and instead insists on shoving both hands in his mouth. Which in turn gags the poor thing.

I can’t wait till his teeth finally cut through. Maybe we will be a little happier. Sigh.

179644_1776001877217_1154444287_32051909_2326797_n

So I have a bunch of ideas bouncing around in my head. Since I have three months to get everything packed up and ready to move to who-knows-where, and I have no sewing machine of my own, I need to get moving.

I’m going to try my hand at sewing pillows. Or pillow covers. They seem pretty simple, but I’m such a novice that I will probably end up sewing through my thumb and come out with a tea cozy rather than a pillow. But! I know I have to try, or else I won’t know for sure.

I have two canvases, sized 16x24 inches, stashed in my hall that I have finally decided what I’m going to do with. It involves stenciling. I am going to make them in our bedroom colors (currently dark red, black and white), and they will hang above our headboard. Pictures will be up soon…ish….

I also have a yard each of Marine digi Marpat fabric coming. I’m going to use that fabric to start making things for Matheson, and to stock my sadly lacking Etsy shop.

Oh my goodness…I officially love Skype. I’m a bit behind on the times, and I just downloaded it to my computer a few days ago. I have never really ever had a need for it, but since Taylor is officially too far away for me to drive to visit (exactly 2,379 miles), we Skype. I love that I can see him, even though he is on the complete opposite end of the country. It’s so much better to talk to him after 4 months of little contact, almost all of it through letters.

Well, I’m off. I need to sleep.

Ciao for now!!

Home Sweet…Station

So, even though we will not receive orders until May, I have finally decided how our home will be decorated.

images 270-54_ivory_color_413_general Bright Red Suede

Not sure where we will be stationed. But I have already started the decorating process. Is that bad?

I even know how I’m going to do the decor come December.

5528

I love snowmen. They are just so cute. Plus, I can keep them up until March. Yay for versatility. Lynne even bought me some snowman tea towels to get me started.

I think most of our decor is either going to be bought on Etsy, or handmade by yours truly. I have seen some really cute ideas out in the blogosphere, and I think I may just have to give them all a try at least once.

I even know which one I’m going to try and do first:

whipperberry

Except, you know, in the colors that would match the rest of the house. This little beauty was a guest project on Tatertots and Jello via the WhipperChicks. I just think it’s perfect for the kitchen/dining room area to hold photos, cards, etc.

Plus, you know, it’s simple.

I’m going to start on the new addition (“antique” makeover) for Matheson’s soon-to-be very own room this week when I get the supplies, and I will do before-and-after photos of said project.

I think I’m excited to move.

Ciao for now.

To Do = Fail

So much for getting my to-do list done today.

Instead, I woke up at 4 this morning to (unsuccessfully) Skype with Husband. Got woken up at 7 to try (and fail) again. Finally was able to chat with him via Skype for three hours.

Then Lynne, Matheson and I went to Target. Where I saw this little beauty:

163762_1770780386683_1154444287_32040349_4622136_n

Six bucks. And, it’s PINK. I need it. Badly. I am definitely going back there tomorrow to get it.

I also finally got all of our photos and empty frames bubble wrapped and boxed up.

I took Matheson’s wall decals taken down and put on waxed paper.

Also started unloading the bookshelves.

So, all in all, not a completely unproductive day. And, sprinkled throughout were calls from my amazing husband. So, bonus. :]

Ciao for now!

Things Things Things

There are things that I need to do in the next week:

  • Gather up all of Matheson’s bottles and wash them.
  • Cut out the pattern for Matheson’s teddy bear.
  • Make some more baby food.
  • Make Taylor’s treaties.
  • Start on my project for the 28th (more info on that later).
  • Start packing.
  • Post about our trip to North Carolina.
  • Make some owls.

…and many more.

Things I have done in the last week:

  • Made up a bomb frosting recipe.
  • Bought boxes and bubble wrap.
  • Took all the photos off the wall.
  • Made two servings of homemade applesauce.
  • Lost my shoes.
  • Ran my car into the back of a Jeep.
  • Gotten irrationally frustrated.
  • Opened my own Etsy shop.

Sigh. Today did not go as planned. At all.

So tomorrow I’m going to:

  • Wash and dry ALL the laundry (even the clean stuff).
  • Sort through it; pack it up.
  • Gather the bottles.
  • Craft for a bit.
  • Make homemade Oreos (tutorial and recipe).

All in between talking to Taylor on Skype while he is at the airport.

I hate things right now. But then I see this, and my heart just melts.

165498_1769760001174_1154444287_32038403_4187227_n

He really just makes my day so much better.

And Away We Go…

There are some things I have promised myself that I would do or work on this year.
  • Smile more.
  • Cry less.
  • Drink more water.
  • Eat less junk food.
  • Go for one walk, everyday.
  • Go to Church every Sunday.
  • Make friends.
  • Take nothing for granted.
  • Kiss Matheson goodnight, even if he is already asleep.
  • Craft like crazy.
  • Be more chill.
  • Tell my husband “I love you” at least twice a day.
  • Be strong.
I don’t consider those things “resolutions”, even though they probably are.
I do consider these resolutions, though.
  • Exercise three times a week.
  • Lose 40 pounds by December.
  • Read one book a week.
  • Be more money conscious. Spend less, save more.
  • Thrift!
  • Be more organized.
  • Do one thing to make myself feel “pretty” everyday.
  • Write in my journal or blog everyday.
Yay for goals and resolutions. XD
Ciao for now!

Getting To Know Me…

well, there is a linky party over at The Idea Room that I decided to take part in. So here are some fun little facts about moi.

  • I’m super scared of the dark. so scared, in fact, that when taylor turns out all of the lights, he has to hold my hand as we walk back to the bedroom, or else I freeze in place.
  • I never went through a girly phase when I was a kid. most of my friends growing up were boys, and it wasn’t until I had my baby 4 months ago that I actually started to like pink, ruffly things.
  • I never wanted to be a mom. now, I can’t imagine not having my little bear.
  • same with being a military wife. I always swore that I would rather be single than be a military wife. now, I’m so much more than that: I’m a marine wife, and I could not be more proud.
  • my husband and I were set up on a blind date. sort of. I had a class with his roommate davie, and davie invited me over one night (to meet taylor, but it wasn’t a “date”). Best thing that ever happened to me.
SANY1133
  • I have a little boy, but I love making things for little girls. I have a problem.
  • I love reading. I just have next to no time to do so.
  • I love looking at clothes online and imagining what I would wear with them. it’s a problem.
  • I spoil my husband. I buy him everything he wants, but when he spends money on me, I get mad.
  • before I met my father-in-law, I knew absolutely nothing about football. in fact, it bored me. now, I can be found during the college football season rocking my south carolina gamecocks gear and screaming at the t.v. that garcia needs to not be so stupid.
  • I love harry potter. nuff said.
  • I love making lists. to-do lists, goal lists, menus, shopping lists, etc. too bad I have to have eighty four red bulls in me to complete these lists.
  • I have seen every episode of “gilmore girls”.
  • I love coffee. my preferred coffee of choice is a soy caramel Frappuccino with no whipped cream. extra extra caramel.
  • I pronounce caramel “care-uh-mel.”.
ciao for now!

Blah Blah Blah...I Suck...

So I think I may be the only person in the world who is not at the midnight premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tonight. Because I told Taylor that I would wait for him to come home next week. Because I'm such an amazing wife.

Why did I tell him that??????????

I am contemplating convincing my father-in-law to go with me, then go again when Taylor gets home. Is that bad? I don't think it's bad, and I'm sure Taylor would understand. I'm OBSESSED with Harry Potter. And, I think Taylor would prefer it if I went and pointed out all the things that are wrong with the movie without him there.

Anywho...

My list has shrunk again. :]

   1. Finish putting Matheson's clothes away.
   2. Clean the room and vacuum.
   3. Finish washing/drying the laundry.
   4. Fold aforementioned laundry.
   5. Finish 5 4 3 tutus for my nieces and 3 stuffed owls name boards for my nephews.
   6. Make 4 family gifts for my brothers/sisters.
   7. Make a name plaque each for my 2 little sisters.
   8. Make 3 stuffed fishies each for my little brothers. (I made name canvases instead. So much easier.)
   9. Wash my bedding and then make my bed.
  10. Call in refills for my prescriptions.
  11. Find some good recipes for Thanksgiving (it's my first time co-chairing the cooking committee; my father-in-law is the other co.).
  12. Talk my step-mom into giving me her fudge recipe.
  13. Decide what stuff Tay gets to have when he comes home; hide the rest of the stuff for Christmas.
  14. Clean the bathroom.

Yay for motivation. :]

Taylor started The Crucible today. He will be finished on Saturday morning/afternoon. Then he gets to call me on Sunday. I'm so excited. I have missed hearing him talk so much. I'm not even going to go to Church (I know, shame on me) just so I don't miss the call.

So...

Jennifer over at Tatertots and Jello is doing a giveaway of an absolutely amazing homemade puffy quilt.
Amazing, right?? I love the colors, and the pattern. It would look AWESOME in Little Bear's room. Cuz he totally needs another blanket. Lol.

Well, I'm out.

Ciao for now!!!

Time Keeps Ticking By...

My list as of Sunday night:
  1. Finish putting Matheson's clothes away.
  2. Clean the room and vacuum.
  3. Finish washing/drying the laundry.
  4. Fold aforementioned laundry.
  5. Finish 5 tutus for my nieces and 4 stuffed owls for my nephews.
  6. Make 7 family gifts for my parents and brothers/sisters.
  7. Make a name plaque each for my 2 little sisters.
  8. Make 3 stuffed fishies each for my little brothers.
My list as of tonight:
  1. Finish putting Matheson's clothes away.
  2. Clean the room and vacuum.
  3. Finish washing/drying the laundry.
  4. Fold aforementioned laundry.
  5. Finish 5 tutus for my nieces and 3 stuffed owls name boards for my nephews.
I'm never never never making homemade gifts for each individual person ever again. Ever. My head is going to explode, and I have not been NOT covered in paint for the last 4 days. I'm telling you, everyone better love these gifts. Urgh.

On a slightly happier note, my Little Bear is 3 months old today. He is getting so big. I hate it, but at the same time, I love it. When Taylor left, Matheson was only 13 days old, and I can't wait to see the look on his face when he gets to hold his little boy again. :]

Also, I got a new dress today.

I love it. I'm wearing it for family photos in a few weeks, and I have to say, it's gonna look AWESOME. I need to get something for Matheson to wear that is going to match. I'm thinking something like this:
But I'm not sure. It all depends on what Taylor will be wearing. If he is going to be wearing his service uniform, then I will find something with a bit more green in it. Or maybe not. Like I said, it all depends.

Tomorrow, I think I'm going to make some pumpkin cookies. It sounds nommy, and I wanna fill the house with that smell. :D

Well, I'm off.

Ciao for now!!!

8 Days To Go...

8 days till I get to see my husband, and 9 till he gets to come home.

I have so much freakin' stuff to do before then.
As I look at this daunting list, all I can do is sigh. With my insomnia acting up lately, I haven't really felt like doing anything at all. But I have been. Slowly. I have been home for two weeks now, and I have just barely started unpacking. I wish I had some way of just doing it automatically. Le sigh.

But I promised Tay that everything would be perfect when he came home, and that's what's going to happen, even if I have to stick Matheson down in my in-laws room for the night and take advantage of not sleeping.

On another note, I have a new project I wanna start working on as soon as the Christmas gifts are made. I kinda want it to be a surprise for Tay, since I am going to start it when he is at MCT. It's gonna be 3 square canvases painted dark red and turned into subway art, each filled with love songs and quotes. the middle canvas is going to be reserved for our songs ("Come What May" from the movie "Moulin Rouge!" and "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica). I am excited to start them, but at the same time, I wanna wait as long as possible...

Oh well. Maybe I should go to sleep. Or at least try.

Ciao for now!
